SUMMARY:Hyperbaric Medicines and Wound Care Challenges
DESCRIPTION:FACULTY:\nThomas Serena\, MD\nTim Mayhugh\, CHT \nThis activity has been planned and implemented by Amedco LLC and SerenaGroup®. Amedco LLC is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME)\, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE)\, and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)\, to provide continuing education for the healthcare team. The course has been reviewed and certified by the National Board of Diving & Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT). Graduates of this course meet the criteria for the CHT/CHRN application status. \nThis 40-hour course in hyperbaric medicine is designed for physicians\, nurses\, and technicians to provide an introduction to the use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy in clinical practice. Upon completion of this course\, you will be able to demonstrate knowledge and understanding specific to your discipline through discussion\, didactic and hands on participation including: \n\nThe historical perspective of hyperbaric medicine\nThe physical effects of increased pressure and oxygen on human subjects and physical systems\nThe physiological\, pharmacological and bio-chemical aspects of oxygen under pressure\nIndications for use of hyperbaric oxygen including currently approved indications outlined by the Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society as well as experimental and controversial indications\nContraindications to the use of hyperbaric oxygen\nAssessment and management of the hyperbaric candidate including assessment of tissue oxygenation\, wound management\, infection control\, and management of the critically ill patient\nOxygen toxicity related to hyperbaric oxygen therapy\nPrevention and management of hyperbaric emergencies\, including seizures\, barotrauma\, pneumothorax\, hypoglycemia\, and cardiac arrest\nIn-chamber attendant safety including the use of decompression tables\nHyperbaric chamber safety including fire safety\, safety codes\, and standards\nSafe chamber operation practices of mono-place and multi-place chambers including safe compression and decompression\n\nDownload Event Brochure
